In 2017 at 8 years of age, I was invited by the LA County Funded Love and Conflict Peacemaking Ministry to share and publish my experience as a peacemaker in Ms. Jannasch’s class (in both Chinese and English) in the 2018 March edition of their newsletter.

Since then, I have not looked back. For the next 9 years, I have been actively involved in the Love and Conflict Peacemaking Ministry Children’s Retreat program as a small group lead, IT technician, Teaching Assistant, Service Trainer and experienced.

2018-2022 Small Group Leader

I serve as middle school group small group leaders that helped participating children learn the training curriculum.

2023 Youth coordinator and IT Technician

I coordinated the the youth training activities among teen volunteers. I designed lesson review materials and implemented the review lessons for retreat participants. I also serve the IT Technician, providing audio, video support for the entirety of the retreat.

2024-2026 Service Trainer and Teacher’s Assistant

I trained them on the special service events where teens are invited to provide professional “wait-staff” services to parents during their celebration banquets. I continue to work as the IT Technician and serve as the teacher’s assistance on some lessons.

2. Peer Tutoring Club

In 2025-2026 school year, I served as the only AP Physics peer tutor on campus, even though I was taking the courses for the first time myself. I was not nervous about the task, but felt excited about the prospect in the beginning.  I had to really learn the material beyond what the teacher taught in class. I had 3 tutees who occupied my after-school time on Mondays and Fridays.

Due to my growing reputation, AP chemistry students began calling me for help as well. My Wednesday nights are reserved “Office-hours” for those needing help.

3. Rise and Shine Youth Leadership

Starting in high school, I also committed to online and in-person tutoring for younger-age kids and fellow high school students. Sharing knowledge and experiences brings me joy and fulfillment.

I got involved in the Rise and Shine Youth Leadership Foundation because friends from Sunday Schools introduced me. I first worked as a co-teacher for a group of 4th graders living in America. We get together weekly and read chapter books for their choice. Kids come from varying reading levels and accents, it was fun but challenging to keep the attention and interest of every child online. I learned online classroom management and coordination with my co-teacher.

I was hired as a personal reading tutor for David, a 5th grader who lives in Shanghai China last year.

4. National Honor Society
